Requests for borrowing and photocopying can be made until 30 minutes prior to the library closing. If you need to be admitted prior to opening, please request permission at the counter by presenting your student/staff card.

Library Access for External Users

For external users, they must register and obtain a library card prior to using library services. They will be required to present their Library access card at the counter in order to visit. Please note that students from other universities or colleges are required to provide the documentation listed below for each admission for non-library card holders. There is an exception for students from other colleges or universities associated with libraries that are members of Kyushu district of The Japan Medical Library Association. They will be admitted with their personal student card.

External Users are restricted during January and February in order to give preferential use of the library to the JRCKICN students. 

Book Search

All of our personal computers set up in the library are connected to the internet to allow users to search for books or other information. There is a special terminal for OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) on the second floor. OPAC of the library

Reference

All books, journals and other items are available for anyone for reference. Items should be returned to their original location after use. Newspapers There is a newspaper area on the left hand side of the entrance where you will find copies of the morning edition of the day and of the evening edition of the previous day of the following five Japanese papers: The Asahi, The Nishinippon, The Nikkei, The Mainichi and The Yomiuri. 

Photocopying

Photocopying is available for most of books in the library (except for valuable books). You will need to submit a copying request form at the counter prior to copying. The request can be made until 30 minutes prior to closing. Due to copyright laws, the number of photocopying in the library per person is limited to one item. You cannot photocopy what you have brought in (e.g. your books, notebooks, etc) in the library. Copy cards are not currently available. The copy machine takes coins (5yen/page).

Borrowings

For borrowing items, take them to the counter and present your student/staff card, and the library staff will issue them to you. Long-term loan over long holidays (e.g. summer holidays) can be arranged. Please see the notice page for details.

*Loan request can be made until 30 minutes prior to the library’s closing. *If you leave the library with items not properly issued, the exit alarm will sound and the gate will be locked, and you will be required to follow the instructions of the library staff.

Non-Circulating Items

There are items that may not be borrowed. Included in this category are: reference books dictionaries, encyclopedia, items designated as syllabuses, audiovisual materials, magazines, bulletins, materials issued by companies, municipality or other organizations, newspapers, valuable books, and other items labeled as in-library use only. Audiovisual materials may be borrowed on the condition that they are returned within the day. Renewals Items on loan can be renewed (only once) so long as nobody else has placed a reserve on them. To renew loans, please take the items to the counter prior to the due date. Audiovisual Materials The audiovisual materials are for JRCKICN students and staff only. Participants in H.E.L.P course may use the materials during the course. These items may be used in the AV/PC area. Headphones are available at the counter for watching videos. Student/staff card is required to borrow them. Headphones shall be returned to the counter and videos returned to their original location after use. No outside audiovisual materials are permitted.

Returns

All items on loan are due back by their due date. Due dates can be checked on your My Library account. Please return them to the counter during hours of business. Items can be returned to the book drops located next to the library’s entrance after-hours. Users with overdue items will be unable to borrow or reserve any other item until all late items are returned.

Compensation

All lost or damaged library items must be reported immediately to the library. The borrower will be required to pay the replacement fee each item.

My Library

My Library is an online system that can be accessed from anywhere for use of our library services. Once you receive notification from the library on your My Library, please come to the counter with your student card. Login On My Library, you can:

  • Receive personal notification from the library
  • Place a reserve on items
  • Check items on loan
  • Make requests to other libraries (photocopying or borrowing) and check the status of an item
  • Check new arrivals (depending on your settings)

Reserves

For items checked out, you can place a reserve on them on your My Library account.

Request for Purchase

Please place a request for purchases of books, audiovisual materials, or other items that you may need for your research or study. Fill in a form of request and bring it to the counter.

Database

The databases are for JRCKICN students and staff only. Participants in H.E.L.P course may use the materials during the course. Use the database (Japanese only)

Interlibrary Services

Photocopying Photocopying request to other libraries is available. Please place a request on your My Library account. You will be charged fees for copying (30 to 60 yen per copy) and postage. Some organizations may charge a handling fee in conjunction. Interlibrary Loan Borrowing books from other libraries is available. Please place a request on your My Library account. You will be charged for postage. Books borrowed from other libraries are in-library use only. Borrowing Books from Munakata City Library Books may be borrowed from Munakata City Library. Please check for your book of choice availability on the Munakata City Library website before submitting a form of request to the counter. A notification will be sent by e-mail upon arrival of the requested books. Please come to collect your requested items from the counter with your student card once you have received the notification message. Access to Other Libraries (for reference or photocopying) For a letter of introduction to visit libraries belonging to other colleges or universities, please make a request at the counter no-later than 2 days prior to the date you wish to visit. Students and staff JRCKICN will normally be admitted with student/staff card to other libraries that are members of Kyushu district of The Japan Medical Library Association. Some of the libraries may ask for documentation with a seal or proof of address. Please check the websites of each organization for details.

Our library staff are pleased to help you with finding books or to assist with our services. We also provide guidance on our database. Please see the notice page for further details and do not hesitate to ask us for any assistance.

Regulations

  • Please study quietly.
  • Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited.
  • Mobile phones must be either switched off or set to silent mode prior to entering the library and all calls should be made outside.
  • Please keep library items in good condition. Do not cut off, write notes in, mark in or damage them.
  • You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card and you will be held accountable for all lost or damaged items regardless if you lend them to someone else.
  • All personal property brought into the library will be at the owner’s risk.
  • Do not behave in a manner that can be reasonably disturb others.
  • Please follow instructions of the library staff at all times.
